George Kittle appears to have given himself to the dark side of the force.

To celebrate May 4, the 49ers tight end tweeted out a photo edit of himself on Mustafar -- the volcanic planet where Anakin Skywalker became the dark lord of the Sith -- with a football tucked under his right arm and a red lightsaber in his left.

The NFC should have a bad feeling about Kittle. The 49ers star tight end has emerged as the top tight end in the game over the past two seasons and his powers have grown with each passing day under the tutelage of Kyle Shanahan.

Kittle can relate to Anakin and Luke Skywalker on some level. While at Iowa, Kittle was relatively unknown and overlooked by NFL scouts. Much like Anakin and Luke being stuck in the outer rim yearning for adventure, Kittle finished his collegiate career with little fanfare or notoriety and had teams suggesting he transition to fullback in order to make it in the NFL.

But once discovered by Shanahan, Kittle has helped the 49ers shift the balance of power in the NFC, and now hopes to oversee a reign of dominance that stretches from Exegol to Santa Clara.

Kittle and the 49ers now must take the next step in 2020 by beating young Jedi Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. If they can strike him down, then their journey to the top of the NFL will be complete.
