2023 four-star interior offensive line prospect Amir Herring has committed to Michigan.

Herring is the 13th-best interior offensive lineman in the 2023 class per 247 Sports.

Nebraska was one of the finalists for Herring along with Boston College and Missouri. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gave the Cornhuskers the third-best odds to land Herring.

Nebraska appeared to be a real contender for Herring. On June 5, Herring tweeted that he had a “great visit” at Nebraska.

Herring is from West Bloomfield, Michigan, so it is not a surprise that he chose to stay in his home state.

Michigan’s offensive line coach Sherrone Moore also played a significant role in Herring’s decision. Herring raved about Moore per 247 Sports.

“Just in a short time with him as offensive line coach, they won the Joe Moore Award and the way the offensive line played was a deciding factor in their season,” Herring said. “I got to see their dominant performance throughout the season, even against Ohio State. Coach Moore is a really good coach. He’s about the details and he’s just a great overall coach.”

Sure, losing out on Herring is disappointing, but Nebraska has already landed two interior offensive linemen in the 2023 class in Riley Van Poppel (No. 14 IOL) and Sam Sledge (No. 60 IOL).
