4 LSU players earn All-SEC women’s basketball postseason awards
LSU just capped off arguably the best regular season in program history for its women’s basketball team, so it should come as no surprise that Tigers players dominated the SEC’s list of postseason award winners.
The superstar is Angel Reese, the transfer from Maryland who has emerged as one of the top players in the entire country. She earned both First Team All-SEC and SEC All-Defensive Team honors, while Alexis Morris joined her on the First Team.
After a dominant true freshman season, Flau'Jae Johnson was named the league’s Freshman of the Year, while both she and Sa'Myah Smith were both included among the SEC All-Freshman Team.
The Tigers sit at 27-1 (15-1 SEC) and will look to secure a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament at this week’s SEC Tournament in Greenville, South Carolina. They open their run against either Georgia or Auburn on Friday.
Here’s a rundown of each player.

It’s truly special to watch a player dominate on both ends of the floor like Reese does. She’s averaging 23.7 points and 16 rebounds, recording a double-double in 27 of 28 games this season to tie [autotag]Sylvia Fowles[/autotag]’ program record.
She’s a semifinalist for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year award, and she’s set an SEC record with seven conference Player of the Week titles this season.

She’s been perhaps a bit overshadowed by Reese, but Morris is having a phenomenal season in her own right as a senior. She’s averaging 14.5 points and ranks fifth in the SEC with 4.2 assists per game.
Morris has scored 20 points six times this season and has 14 games with at least five assists.
G Flau'Jae Johnson (SEC Freshman of the Year, SEC All-Freshman Team)

Johnson came to LSU as a top-30 prospect in the 2022 class, and she lived up to the hype as a true freshman. She averaged 11.6 points and nearly six rebounds per game, winning SEC Freshman of the Week three times. Though Morris is likely moving on after this season, the future in the backcourt is bright with Johnson.
F Sa'Myah Smith (SEC All-Freshman Team)
Jeff Blake-USA TODAY Sports
Another highly touted recruit who impressed in her first season, Smith made just two starts this season but was a key player coming off the bench. Her production was modest as she averaged 5.3 points and 4.5 assists, but she also recorded a double-double and showed promising signs on the defensive end as her 1.4 blocks per game ranked ninth in the SEC.
