3 things to know on Jaguars RB Snoop Conner

The Jacksonville Jaguars took former Ole Miss running back Snoop Conner in the fifth round with the 154th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft in April. He’s in line to be the third back behind incumbent starter James Robinson and Travis Etienne.

It’s typically a little early for a franchise to use a fifth-round draft choice on a third-string running back, but this time it’s worth it for Jacksonville’s sake because Robinson and Etienne are returning off of season-ending injuries. Etienne missed his entire rookie campaign due to a foot injury he suffered in the preseason. Robinson suffered a torn Achilles back on Dec. 26 against the New York Jets.

Conner racked up 1,580 rushing yards while averaging 5.2 yards per rush and 26 touchdowns during his career. He also reeled in 32 catches for 225 receiving yards in his three-year stint with the Rebels. Last season, he posted 647 yards on 130 carries and 13 scores.

Here are three other things to know about Conner.

Conner’s reputation entering the NFL is that he is a goal-line back that will help offenses get into the end zone on short-and-goal situations. He scored lots of rushing touchdowns with Ole Miss, including 13 in his final season with the Rebels, which ranks fifth in the school’s history.

He is one of six running backs to rush for over 100 yards and two scores against a Nick Saban-led team

Most running backs and offenses struggle versus Nick Saban-led teams because he’s one of the best college football coaches ever and a defensive mastermind. However, Conner was one of six running backs to tally over 100 yards and two touchdowns in a game against Saban.

The 247Sports composite had Conner ranked as the 991st best player nationally and the 62nd overall running back in the 2019 recruiting cycle. He hailed from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and chose the Rebels over Memphis, Louisiana, Southern Miss, and Tulane.
