On Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers placed starting cornerback Joe Haden on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. This puts his status for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens in jeopardy. Here are three takeaways from the move.

This might be it

With Haden on the COVID list, there’s a real possibility we’ve seen him play his last game as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Haden is set to hit free agency at the end of the season and still feels like he’s playing well enough to be paid a premium. It’s hard to see the Steelers doing that.

Another start for Ahkello Witherspoon

One of the best surprises of the 2021 season has been the emergence of cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon since the Steelers traded for him. Witherspoon has started two games and appeared in eight total but leads the team with three interceptions.

Yeah, it stinks that Haden went on the COVID list but the team also got six guys back off the COVID list on the same day. The Steelers can account for not having Haden but big picture the team is getting some guys back at exactly the right time.
