The New York Jets have begun their 2022 training camp journey.

Here were three big observations and takeaways that surfaced from reports during Day 3 of camp:

Red zone balancing act

There was good and bad from Jets quarterback Zach Wilson in the red zone specifically.

Wilson tossed at least two touchdown passes according to ESPN. Those went to Corey Davis and Garret Wilson. However, safety Jordan Whitehead did pick him off in the end zone as well. The Athletic added that Wilson had a good spell during third-down work.

ESPN went on to elaborate on Davis’ day. He caught four of five passes. Two of them were for touchdowns. Solid.

CB competition update

Head coach Robert Saleh confirmed that rookie first-round pick Sauce Gardner will need to earn his starting job. Gardner might be the presumed favorite, but the coach said Bryce Hall and Gardner will rotate each day with the starting defense for now.
