3 keys to a Jets victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 13

1. CONTAIN THE RUN

Initially, I thought about writing “stop the run,” but the Jets have the 27th-ranked rushing defense. The Eagles are averaging 158 yards rushing, best in the NFL. They run a similar scheme as the Colts, who ran for 260 yards against the Jets on TNF in Week 9. The Jets are probably going to be without Sheldon Rankins, who’s dealing with a knee injury. But the Jets have to contain the rushing attack to have a shot to win two games in a row.

2. GET ZACH GOING EARLIER

Wilson has thrown zero TDs in the first half with seven interceptions and is completing 49% of his passes. It’s mind-blogging that he’s struggling like this in the early portions of the game. In the second half, he has five total touchdowns and only three INTs. He’s a much different quarterback after the break and the Jets need that version to show up earlier.

3. CONTINUE TO RUN THE BALL

Against the Texans, the Jets rushed for 157 yards with two TDs. That’s a winning formula for the Jets as Wilson continues to find his footing. The Eagles allow 112 yards rushing per game, 16th most in the NFL. Tevin Coleman led the way for the Jets last week with 67 yards rushing. The Eagles possess a good defensive line led by six-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Fletcher Cox. So the Jets will have their hands full but they must win that battle to secure a win.
