3 keys to a Bills victory vs. the Chiefs in the divisional round

The Buffalo Bills continue their playoff journey against the Kansas City Chiefs at Highmark Stadium in the NFL’s divisional round.

Buffalo (11-6) and Kansas City (11-6) faced off against each other during the regular season. The two foes are no strangers and some things in particular must be done in order for the home team to take the win.

Here are three keys to the Bills beating the Chiefs in the divisional round:

The Bills’ injury report is extensive. It was last week, too.

But players stepped up… and they’ll have to again. Four players already ruled out for Buffalo are:

  • CB Christian Benford (knee)

  • S Taylor Rapp (calf)

  • LB Baylon Spector (back)

  • WR Gabe Davis (knee)

Then there are four players that are questionable to play against the Chiefs for Buffalo:

  • LB Terrel Bernard (ankle)

  • CB Rasul Douglas (knee)

  • P Sam Martin (hamstring)

  • CB Taron Johnson (concussion)

Last week in their 31-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, the likes of cornerback Kaiir Elam had a takeaway and receiver Khalil Shakir had a huge touchdown catch. The Bills need those types of plays once again.

The first time the Bills and Chiefs faced off this season it was a narrow win for Buffalo by a 20-17 final. But the Bills got out to a 14-0 start and Kansas City came back.

It’d be good to not let the Chiefs stick around, but a fast start again would be ideal for the Bills.

Let’s face it, the Bills are going to go where Josh Allen takes them. Buffalo’s quarterback led the way against the Steelers. His 52-yard rushing touchdown was insane, but whether it’s on the ground or in the air, Allen has to outduel Patrick Mahomes.
