After 22 years, this Boise restaurant has closed until further notice. Here’s why

A longtime local restaurant chain has closed one of its two locations indefinitely.

Eddie’s Diner, a familiar sight on State Street in Boise, is no longer serving all-day breakfast, hamburgers and milkshakes. The family-owned restaurant at 3095 W. Lake Harbor Lane has shuttered because of a lack of employees, according to a note on the door. The restaurant posted the news on Facebook on Nov. 29, indicating it had gone dark “until further notice.”

“We are sorry to announce that this location will be closed until we can hire enough great people to provide the service and food quality expected from our loyal patrons,” the note says. “Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding during this process.

“We are grateful for the hard work and dedication our coworkers have shown during these crazy times and will welcome them back when we hire and train a new kitchen staff. We really appreciate the 22 years of support! Please visit our other location during this closure.”

Eddie’s Restaurant, which has been around even longer at 7067 W. Overland Road, remains open.

Eddie’s Diner opened at 3095 W. Lake Harbor Lane in 1999, taking over the former RJ’s Diner spot.

Eddie’s is a 1950s-themed attraction specializing in “home-style cooking,” according to its menu. Roller skates and other memorabilia create a nostalgic atmosphere in the family-friendly spots.

Eddie’s “provides great food with awesome customer service and unbeatable prices,” according to its website.
