2024 NFL draft: Patriots updated 7-round mock draft

The biggest news in the NFL came from the New England Patriots when they decided to part ways with head coach Bill Belichick as the head coach. Owner Bob Kraft decided the team needed to go in a new direction to right the ship and so we felt like it was the perfect time to update our Patriots seven-round mock draft.

With a new head coach, a new quarterback must follow but this mock was about more than just drafting a quarterback and we opted to try and fill as many holes on this roster as possible and still land a potential franchise quarterback.

First round - WR Marvin Harrison Jr., Ohio State

Second round - QB J.J. McCarthy, Michigan

The Patriots did pretty well the last time they brought in a Michigan quarterback so why not try again? McCarthy is an excellent prospect and very pro-ready.

Third round - OT Kingsley Suamatala, BYU

The Patriots could be losing Trent Brown and we love the high ceiling and all-around game of Kingsley Suamatala.

Fourth round - DT McKinnley Jackson, Texas A&M

Defensive tackle isn’t a top need but when McKinnley Jackson was on the board in the fourth round he was just too good to pass up. Jackson is a powerful run-stuffer who fits the Patriots defense perfectly.

Fifth round - CB Max Melton, Rutgers

Max Melton is a smart, aggressive zone specialist who is a year away from being an NFL starting cornerback.

Sixth round - RB Tahj Brooks, Texas Tech

Seventh round - EDGE Brian Ugwu, Miami (OH)
