2023 Safety Kylin Jackson moves commitment date; Texas A&M and LSU listed as finalists

Texas A&M has had an up and down time on the recruiting trail for the 2023 class. Since the weekend of the annual pool party and barbecue on July 30th, they have landed five commitments. Including top prospects in 5-Star linebacker Anthony Hill, 4-Star Safety Dalton Brooks, 3-Start Defensive tackle Samu Taumanupepe, and 2024 defensive lineman Dealyn Evans.

One of the attendees at the pool party, 2023 safety Kylin Jackson, has officially updated his announcement date, Saturday, August 13th, with his final two schools being LSU, and Texas A&M. The Aggies have been on Jackson since early last summer, offering the stud safety June 19th last year, as he unofficially visited the campus on April 9th, and June 17th, making his last visit during the pool party on July 30th.

Listed at 6-1, 196lbs, and ranked as the 10th safety prospect in the country in the 2023 class, Kylin Jackson is honestly one of the more impressive safety prospects these eyes have seen in quite some time, and 247Sports recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks put it best in his scouting report for the young recruit:

Good height and looks long on tape. Lean, athletic build that will foster more bulk in college. Instinctive center field-type at the back end who covers chunks of territory in the passing game. Awareness is obvious, as is functional athleticism. Has a nose for the ball. Redirects fairly well relative to frame length, allowing him to drive on throws. Frame should aid in catch-point disruption. Above average ball skills. Willing tackler who will crash the box vs. the run when needed. Functional athlete on the field but athletic profile lacks verified context in the form of track or combine testing. Similarly, size has not been verified yet. Free safety play style with a frame that could lead to dropping down as a hybrid back-seven player in certain situations. Projects to high-major level with plenty of long-term upside.

Texas A&M is one of the last teams standing for Kylin Jackson’s commitment, and with the hope that the pool party did its job, the waiting game begins as August 13th beckons.
