2023 NFL trade deadline: 7 players on offense for the Bills to target

The 2023 NFL trade deadline is just around the corner and even though there is already one transaction completed, there could still be more to come.

The Buffalo Bills (5-3) signed running back Leonard Fournette. But if there’s a deal to be made before the deadline on Tuesday at 4 p.m., you better believe the Bills will be listening.

General manager Brandon Beane has never been shy about making a trade. Most recently, Beane made one at last year’s deadline, landing running back Nyheim Hines from the Indianapolis Colts. And much more recently, reconstructing the contract of Dion Dawkins has given Buffalo more salary cap space to work with.

And even with Fournette added, here are seven players on offense that the Bills could target at the upcoming trade deadline:

Titans WR DeAndre Hopkins

Hopkins is a big name and feels closer to the unlikely side of the ledger. However, there’s no disputing the clear links between the player and the Bills this offseason. It kept happening over and over again… and then Hopkins inked a two-year, $26 million with the Titans–Who are now looking likely to flush this season.

Raiders WR Hunter Renfrow

After signing a two-year, $32M contract extension a few years back, something has to happen with that deal before he’s moved. But Renfrow’s usage is way down thanks to the additions of Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers.

He’s also known to do plenty of work out of the slot. The Bills need a consistent weapon there.

Jets RB Dalvin Cook

This is much less likely after the acquisition of Fournette. But could Cook want to stick it to the Jets after signing there and not seeing much playing time? That would likely require him to be cut instead of traded… but who knows. He did suggest the idea of playing alongside his brother James Cook in Buffalo this offseason.

Panthers WR Adam Thielen

Thielen is in an interesting position with the Panthers. He’s 33 but rookie quarterback Bryce Young has a connection with him–But is it enough to keep him? Thielen famously played alongside Stefon Diggs for years with the Vikings as well.

Giants WR Parris Campbell

Campbell is out of favorite with the Giants since the return of Wan’Dale Robinson–And this is a team the Bills have strong ties to via their respective front offices. Likewise to Renfrow, Campbell could provide talent out of the slot.

Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy

It’s not a trade deadline piece without someone who is a bit of a pipedream. In terms of the Bills offense, that’s Jeudy, who would provide a top-tier complement to Stefon Diggs. Jeudy is also still on his rookie contract.

Bears WR Darnell Mooney

Mooney isn’t a headliner, but the Bears’ season is going down the drain again and he can be a cost-efficient addition for the Bills. He’s on the final year of his rookie contract and only has 14 catches so far in 2023 since DJ Moore joined the Bears. He’s a piece that could be moved around a scheme as well.
