2022 NFL mock draft: ESPN's Mel Kiper gives Browns Ohio State WR Garrett Wilson

ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr., the longtime guru of all NFL Draft gurus, has released his first mock draft for the 2022 NFL Draft.

Kiper gave the Browns a familiar, and common, pick at No. 13 overall in the first round. He sent Ohio State wide receiver Garrett Wilson to the Browns to help bolster the team's faltering wide receiver corps.

"This was a pretty easy pick for me, because the Browns should take the best receiver left on the board," Kiper wrote. "If they really are committed to Baker Mayfield for 2022 (and beyond), they should get their quarterback some help, because this is now two straight seasons in which they've trotted out a subpar receiving corps for the second half of the season."

The 6-foot, 188-pound Wilson has been a common pick for the Browns in mock drafts online since the team officially clinched the No. 13 pick in the 2022 draft.

The need for a wide receiver for the Browns is apparent. No pass catcher topped 600 yards receiving this season, with Donovan Peoples-Jones finishing with 597 and Jarvis Landry at 570. Add into that Landry's future in Cleveland being in doubt and it's understandable why Wilson is an attractive option.

For the Buckeyes in 2021, Wilson had 70 receptions for 1,058 yards and 12 touchdowns. In three seasons across 32 games, Wilson had 143 receptions for 2,213 yards and 21 touchdowns.

In Kiper's mock draft, Wilson is the second wide receiver selected. He sent Drake London of USC to the New York Jets at No. 10.

In Dane Brugler's second 2022 mock draft, Wilson is not on the board for the Browns. In The Athletic draft analyst's mock, the Ohio State football star is gone at No. 10 to the Jets. He doesn't give the Browns London, either. The Trojan is picked at No. 22 by the Las Vegas Raiders.

Instead, Brugler gives the Browns Arkansas wide receiver Treylon Burks. If the Browns want to get bigger at wide receiver, Burks is a logical pick considering the Razorbacks listed him at 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds.

For Arkansas this season, Burks had 66 receptions for 1,104 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Unlike Kiper, Brugler does two rounds in his mock draft. In the second round he gives the Browns USC pass rusher Drake Jackson. That would give the Browns an option at defensive end in case Jadeveon Clowney leaves in free agency.
