2022 NFL Draft: 49ers select Spencer Burford with 134 overall pick
49ers select UTSA OT Spencer Burford with No. 134 overall pick originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea
The 49ers added to the trenches with the No. 134 pick in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Selecting guard Spencer Burford, San Francisco added depth to the offensive line with their fourth total selection.
The 6-foot-4, 304-pound guard played four seasons at the University of Texas-San Antonio, where he allowed just two sacks for the entire 2021 season with the UTSA.
Burford appears to be athletic and quick on his feet, traits that Kyle Shanahan values in offensive lineman for his outside-zone run scheme.

Having played guard and tackle, the 49ers might end up moving Burford around, possibly developing him into a swing tackle.

Burford will likely compete with tackles Jaylon Moore, Alfredo Gutierrez and guards Colton McKivitz and Aaron Banks for some sort of swing/hybrid role on the offensive line.
