2022 NBA free agent rankings: Top players available this summer

With the trade deadline now behind and stars suiting up for new teams, it’s time to turn our eye to the offseason as far as the player-movement market.

Led James Harden, Kyrie Irving, Zach LaVine and Bradley Beal, the 2022 free-agent class is heavy on guards at the top, though does feature wings and bigs who will be highly sought-after.

Below, check out our rankings for the top players available for the 2022 NBA free-agent class.

Zach LaVine / SG / Chicago

The always-explosive 2-guard finally proved that he can be a winning player this season, which will line him up for a huge payday this summer. Can score from all three levels, shoot deep threes off the dribble and throw it down over the most athletic of defenders.

2021/22 stats: 24.6 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 4.5 apg, 48.2 FG%, 39.9 3P%
2021/22 earnings: $19,500,000
Career earnings: $86,428,548
Agent: Rich Paul

James Harden / PG / Philadelphia (Player Option)

Even through injuries and team switching, he’s still one the best 2-guards in basketball. It’s been reported he won’t hit free agency this summer, but until that’s official, he ranks second on our list – and with good reason.

2021/22 stats: 22.5 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 10.2 apg, 1.3 spg, 41.4 FG%, 33.2 3P%
2021/22 earnings: $44,310,840
Career earnings: $286,660,574

Bradley Beal / SG / Washington (Player Option)

A so-so, injury-riddled season hurt his place in these rankings, but even coming off of a mediocre campaign, he’s still one of the top shooting guards in basketball. Three-level scorer with some rebounding and assisting prowess.

2021/22 stats: 23.2 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 6.6 apg, 45.1 FG%, 30.0 3P%
2021/22 earnings: $33,724,200
Career earnings: $177,854,712
Agent: Mark Bartelstein

Kyrie Irving / PG / Brooklyn (Player Option)

Constant off-the-court drama aside, he’s still one of the best point guards in the game, with magician-like ball-handling and finishing abilities, as well as an elite jumper.

2021/22 stats: 24.1 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 5.4 apg, 45.2 FG%, 36.8 3P%
2021/22 earnings: $35,053,700
Career earnings: $194,017,299

Deandre Ayton / C / Phoenix (Restricted)

Tall, long, athletic and with skill out to the midrange, he is making as big of an impact as ever before in his career, though there’s still another he can reach. Even so, he’s productive and young and plays a re-energized position in the NBA, center.

2021/22 stats: 16.4 ppg, 10.3 rpg, 1.5 apg, 64.5 FG%, 25.0 3P%
2021/22 earnings: $12,632,950
Career earnings: $39,781,548
Agent: Bill Duffy

Miles Bridges / PF / Charlotte (Restricted)

Young and still with promise, he’s posting a career season, one in which he showed huge athleticism and much-improved skills. His defensive versatility, especially, has allowed him to make a huge impact.

2021/22 stats: 19.7 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 3.6 apg, 48.2 FG%, 30.7 3P%
2021/22 earnings: $5,421,493
Career earnings: $16,083,141
Agent: Rich Paul

Jalen Brunson / PG / Dallas

Underrated no longer, he’s one of the top free-agent guards, and with good reason. He always plays under control, is a pitbull defender, can create for others and shoot the basketball. There aren’t many tougher point guards out there, either.

2021/22 stats: 16.1 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 5.4 apg, 50.2 FG%, 35.7 3P%
2021/22 earnings: $1,802,057
Career earnings: $6,024,217

Anfernee Simons / SG / Portland (Restricted)

Career earnings: $10,041,591
Agent: Bill Duffy

Collin Sexton / PG / Cleveland (Restricted)

All energy, all the time, on both ends of the floor. Lightning quick and can finish in the paint thanks to a tidy floater while boasting solid shooting touch from beyond the arc. Getting injured obviously doesn’t help his standing in free agency.

2021/22 stats: 16.0 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.1 apg, 45.0 FG%, 24.4 3P%
2021/22 earnings: $6,349,671
Career earnings: $19,877,301
Agent: Austin Brown

Russell Westbrook / PG / LA Lakers (Player Option)

Earning this spot partly on reputation, he’s having a very poor campaign for his standards. Perhaps it was due to the fit with his teammates, but that isn’t the former league MVP we were used to seeing. Still a top rebounder and passer for his position. A mortal lock in to opt in, but for now we’re listing him here.

2021/22 stats: 18.3 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 7.6 apg, 43.6 FG%, 30.1 3P%

Jusuf Nurkic / C / Portland

Solid passing big man, particularly from the mid-post, who can even knock down shots at times from that region. Finally looks recovered from the horrifying leg injury he suffered. Good finisher down low with some refined post moves.

Career earnings: $3,456,249
Agent: Thaddeus Foucher

John Wall / PG / Houston (Player Option)

It’s unclear how much he has left in the tank at this point, though taking the season off could have his legs fresh for his next team. Still possesses good athleticism and can get from one end of the floor to the other quickly. Can’t picture him opting out.

2021/22 stats: N/A
2021/22 earnings: $44,310,840
Career earnings: $229,137,948
Agent: Rich Paul

Bobby Portis / C / Milwaukee (Player Option)

Always a ball of energy when on the floor, he also adds a unique twist to his bruising big man persona: shooting. Can hit triples and do some scoring off the dribble, though his defense, particularly down low, can be lacking.

2021/22 stats: 15.5 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 1.3 apg, 48.7 FG%, 42.2 3P%
2021/22 earnings: $4,347,600
Career earnings: $28,888,606
Agent: Mark Bartelstein

Montrezl Harrell / C / Charlotte

An elite finisher out of the pick-and-roll with great energy on the glass, his defense down low is what hurts his impact and prevents him from being a full-time starter. Lack of size has a lot to do with that.

2021/22 stats: 14.2 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 2.1 apg, 65.3 FG%
2021/22 earnings: $9,720,900
Career earnings: $34,120,282

2021/22 earnings: $1,789,256
Career earnings: $17,263,528
Agent: Jeff Schwartz

Victor Oladipo / SG / Miami

Will need to prove he can contribute at a high level on a winning team to get paid this summer. At his peak, he was a top two-way shooting guard who could score from all three levels and defend well. Can he get close to that peak again?

Mitchell Robinson / C / New York (Team Option)

Elite shot-blocker, though the other parts of his game have taken a while to develop. Can score when spoon-fed opportunities near the rim, but won’t be creating plays for himself or others. Strong rebounder thanks to his ridiculous length.

2021/22 stats: 8.4 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 1.6 bpg, 76.8 FG%
2021/22 earnings: $1,802,057
Career earnings: $6,413,588
Agent: Thaddeus Foucher
