Rafael Devers to start at third base in All-Star Game originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston

The Boston Red Sox will have a starter in the 2022 MLB All-Star Game.

Rafael Devers was named the starting third baseman for the American League on Friday. The 25-year-old slugger edged out Cleveland Guardians star Jose Ramirez in the final stage of fan voting. It's his second career All-Star appearance.

Devers is in the midst of the best season of his career, slashing .330/.387/.598 with 19 home runs and 51 RBI through 79 games. He put an exclamation point on his case to be an All-Star starter with two homers off New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole on Thursday. He's the first Red Sox player to start multiple All-Star Games at third base.

Full All-Star Game rosters will be revealed Sunday.
