There are some serious stars available at the top of the fantasy baseball shortstop position for the 2022 draft season. Some stick out more than others.

Few of those stars are bigger than Fernando Tatis Jr.

It's not hyperbole to say that the San Diego Padres' electrifying shortstop — who is still just 23 years old — is must-watch TV whenever he steps into the batter's box or when he's playing defense in the field.

Last season was the first time in his extremely young career that Tatis played over 100 games (he didn't play a full 162 though — injuries have begun to haunt him already, unfortunately — more on that shortly). This is what he did:

A slash line of .282/.364/.611 with an OPS of .975. He hit 42 home runs and stole 25 bases.

Not bad for your first 100+ game season, right?

Tatis Jr.'s young combined with his exciting ability is what made him one of the top candidates to be the No. 1 overall draft pick in fantasy baseball. He's part of the cream of the crop at the shortstop position, but unfortunately, he suffered a fractured wrist that will reportedly sideline him for up to three months.

With this injury, who now stands at the top?

Trea Turner — another electrifying multi-category contributor — looks like the consensus No. 1 pick now, with his dual eligibility at 2B and SS and his ability to rack up steals and homers. Another young star, Bo Bichette (an MVP candidate last season) is up there, along with other exciting talents like Tim Anderson, Xander Bogaerts and Marcus Semien. Each of these players has the potential to fill multiple fantasy categories, so it's hard to go wrong when you're on the clock about to draft a shortstop.

Who do you hope to draft when it's time to fill your fantasy baseball shortstop position?
