2022 Fantasy Baseball Rankings: Second Base

One of the best ways to build a competitive fantasy baseball lineup in drafts is to seek out multi-category contributors. Usually, these multi-faceted players are found in the early rounds of drafts, since they check off so many 5x5 boxes. Most of the best multi-category hitters will all be drafted after the first round.

With that said, the second base position in fantasy baseball maintains one of the best collections of players who contribute to many categories. And it all starts with Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman, Trea Turner.

Turner has long been a staple of first rounds in fantasy drafts — he's still only 28 — due to his ability to fill up the stat sheet. Turner hits for average, he's a lock for double-digit homers — he hit 28 in 2021, the most in his career — and he virtually wraps up the stolen base category for those who draft him.

In fact, Turner has stolen 20+ bases five times in his seven-season career.

And he's not the only multi-category hitter available at second base.

Ozzie Albies, Mookie Betts, Whit Merrifield, Jonathan India, Ketel Marte, Jazz Chisolm Jr. — these are just some of the second basemen available at the top of our consensus rankings who possess double-digit home run power and stolen-base speed.

With that said, as many multi-category contributors there are, it's a position that is not very deep. Basically, it might be prudent to lock up one of the top guys at second base and not have to worry about it later, when the big names and contributions start getting more and more scarce as the draft goes along.

Check out how all the second basemen stack up in our analysts' rankings at the position:
