2022 Fantasy Baseball Rankings: Outfielders

Remember when Mike Trout was the absolute class of the fantasy baseball outfield position? The do-it-all star was considered not only the top-ranked outfielder on draft boards but a candidate for the No. 1 overall draft pick.

Trout is the consensus seventh-ranked outfielder for the 2022 draft season, as of this writing.

This goes to show that nothing is forever in this fantasy game, not even for a legend such as Trout.

Sure, he got hurt in 2021 and the injury derailed his season, but that's not the only reason for his rankings fall.

There is some SERIOUS talent ahead of him at the position in 2022.

Let's take a moment to consider the five names ahead of Trout in our fantasy baseball outfield rankings as of this writing.

There's the superstar Fernando Tatis Jr., who holds outfield eligibility as he's played some right fielder. Then of course there's the Nationals 23-year-old team lynchpin, Juan Soto, who looks like a seasoned veteran every time he enters the batter's box (he walked a whopping 145 times last season).

Then there's the returning young star, Ronald Acuna Jr. Acuna Jr., like Trout, saw his season derailed by injury, but he's a 40-40 threat when healthy.

Mookie Betts and Bryce Harper (the reigning NL MVP) might join Trout as the vets of this group, but their electrifying ability is evident to us all.

The outfield position has long been home to fantasy stars, to difference-making hitters, and 2022 is no different. The question is, however, which star will shine above all the others, and at what point in drafts is that star to be found?
