The Good Stuff

Randy Sartin-USA TODAY Sports

Pitts has a rare combination of size, athleticism and ball skills. With his massive frame and the largest wingspan in this draft class, he's a mismatch nightmare. He shows great releases against jam, has long strides, and solid physicality into the stem. Pitts shows ideal play strength at the top of his route, and has a large catch radius, extending his hands for high throws and also underthrown balls.

He can diagnose zone coverage and can find an open area to sit down. He's also got decent run blocking skills, shows good in-game competitiveness, and is a dangerous deep threat.

Under Construction

Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports

When he is pass protecting, Pitts doesn’t stand his ground well, failing to maximize that big frame. He doesn’t look like an anchor when blocking, and tends to get pushed back when going against pass rushers. His long strides help him get deep quickly, but when making cuts, you want to see short choppy steps, and that is something he will certainly need to improve moving forward. Injuries aren’t too much of a concern, but Pitts has already sustained a concussion.

The Bottom Line

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Pitts is a once-in-a-lifetime prospect who should flourish in any environment. His incredible physical tools will make him a matchup nightmare at the next level, particularly in the red zone. He's a big-time playmaker, and he'll be a game-changer for any offense at the next level, making him well worth a top-five pick.
