2020 NHL Trade Deadline: Date, Time, News, Rumors

When is the 2020 NHL Trade Deadline?

The 2020 NHL Trade Deadline takes place on Monday, Feb. 24, at 3:00 p.m. ET.

What time do trades have to be submitted by?

The NHL league office must be notified of the details of the trade by the 3 p.m. deadline, but a large influx of trades just before the deadline could push back the official trade call between the participating teams and the league office back after 3 p.m.

Which players are rumored to being on the trade block?

Chris Kreider, F, Rangers: New York has to determine if it's going to extend Kreider and find a way to fit under the cap or trade him to avoid losing him for nothing as an unrestricted free agent after this season.

Alec Martinez, D, Kings: Martinez isn't the same player he was a few years ago, but it's hard to find a reason for the rebuilding Kings not to trade the veteran defenseman with the team still years away from contention.

Dylan DeMelo, D, Senators: A player more well-known for his defensive abilities than finding the back of the net, DeMelo would be an intriguing depth piece for teams looking to shore up their defense.

Ilya Kovalchuk, F, Canadiens: Montreal appeared poised to trade Kovalchuk after signing him in January. Has he played his way into an extension after a hot start to his Canadiens tenure?

Aaron Dell, G, Sharks: After playing second fiddle to Martin Jones his entire career, Dell is about to get the chance to find a starting job in free agency. But first he's going to be an excellent insurance policy for a contender looking for goalie help.

Trevor Daley, D, Red Wings: On easily the worst team in the NHL, the two-time Stanley Cup winner has already reportedly requested a trade from Detroit so that he can get back into the playoffs.

Sami Vatanen, D, Devils: Vatanen was the Devils' biggest trade piece before hitting the Injured Reserve with a bruised leg. If the injury proves to be as small a concern as New Jersey has made it out to be, then he'll certainly be on the move.
