Keep it right here for the latest free agent rumors, news and completed deals. This live blog will be updated throughout Friday.

5:10 p.m.: Here are some updates on Alex Pietrangelo and Taylor Hall.
A source on whether Alex Pietrangelo has closed the door on the Blues: "No, no, he hasn't. He hasn't made that clear to me. If anything that he's made clear, it's that he still doesn't know what he's going to do."— Jeremy Rutherford (@jprutherford) October 9, 2020
Don't expect a decision today from Taylor Hall. He and his agent have met (via zoom) with numerous teams and will look at all offers. Decision likely over the weekend. It is a big decision, so they won't rush into it.— Jason Gregor (@JasonGregor) October 9, 2020
4:50 p.m.: Veteran defenseman Kevan Miller is returning to the Bruins.
One year deal. Total value could be worth up to $2M depending on bonuses. https://t.co/2DrV2ChnhV— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) October 9, 2020

Craig Smith is generating plenty of interest. Hearing Boston and Ottawa, among others, have called.— David Pagnotta (@TheFourthPeriod) October 9, 2020
2:10 p.m.: A couple updates on Taylor Hall and Kevin Shattenkirk.
Now that I tweet this, I might jinx it as it's a very fluid situation, but unless the right offer/opportunity presents itself today, there's talk Taylor Hall might be willing to wait things out a few days before making a final decision. We'll see.— David Pagnotta (@TheFourthPeriod) October 9, 2020
Unless something changes quickly, Kevin Shattenkirk won't be re-signing with Tampa. He has received interest from about 8-10 teams.— David Pagnotta (@TheFourthPeriod) October 9, 2020

1:35 p.m.: More details on Braden Holtby's contract with the Canucks are trickling out.
Holtby’s two-year deal with VAN does not include a NMC so with the two-year term, he is eligible to be made available in Seattle expansion draft. He does have a limited NTC, though.— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) October 9, 2020
1:20 p.m.: We have some goalie news!
Nothing confirmed, but it's looking increasingly likely that Jacob Markstrom is going to land in Calgary.— Chris Johnston (@reporterchris) October 9, 2020

Expect Blues GM Doug Armstrong to do everything in his power to get Alex Pietrangelo back in the Blue Note this afternoon. But if not, expect a big play at the stud Torey Krug.— Scottie Upshall (@ScottieUpshall) October 9, 2020

Noon: Free agency has begun!
11:35 a.m.: A top four defenseman is hitting the market.
CGY and pending UFA D T.J. Brodie, a left shot who plays the right side, have had more contract talks in the last hour but weren’t able to get a deal done. Unless things change before noon, expect Brodie to go market.— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) October 9, 2020
Henrik Lundqvist going to the Capitals is another interesting move in the goalie market.
If, as expected, the one-year deal is $1.5M, it would be fitting. That would make Lundqvist “whole” on $4.5M salary he was scheduled to get for 20-21. $3M of it would be in his buyout from the Rangers (paid out over two years) but $1.5M would top him back up to $4.5M total.— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) October 9, 2020
11:20 a.m.: The Paul Stastny trade between the Golden Knights and Jets is now official.
11:15 a.m.: The Calgary Flames could be in the market for a goalie.
If Jacob Markstrom makes it to free agency Friday, believe Calgary will make a competitive, long-term pitch.— Pat Steinberg (@Fan960Steinberg) October 9, 2020
Also am of the understanding #Flames are a preferred landing spot if Markstrom doesn’t return to Vancouver.
Cam Talbot is heading to free agency. Couldn’t come to terms with the Flames.— Eric Francis (@EricFrancis) October 9, 2020
Could Sami Vatanen could back to the Ducks?
10:15 a.m. ET: Here are some of the notable updates from Friday morning and Thursday evening.
The Jets are set to acquire a No. 2 center in Paul Stastny. It will be his second stint with the team.
What's going on with the Oliver Ekman-Larsson situation? Not much, it seems.
RE: OEL: Last night I was told there was nothing new happening.— Craig Morgan (@CraigSMorgan) October 9, 2020
Obviously, things can change in a heartbeat because deadlines tend to spur action.
OEL’s agent, Kevin Epp, told me that today’s deadline is firm. https://t.co/GLSTplEo4O
After acquiring Josh Anderson in a trade with the Blue Jackets earlier in the week, the Canadiens are paying him a lot of money with a new seven-year contract. It's a lot of money and term for an injury prone player.
The New Jersey Devils are adding a quality defenseman in a trade with the Blue Jackets.
Anton Khudobin would be a solid No. 2 goalie for any contending team.
DAL GM Jim Nill says Anton Khudobin will test the market— Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) October 8, 2020
