2020 NFL All-Pro roster: Ravens have just 1 player make first-team All-Pro list

The 2020 NFL regular season is over as the wild-card playoffs start this week. While the Baltimore Ravens made the cut and are hoping to win their way to Super Bowl LV, it’s also the time of the year for awards. The Associated Press released their All-Pro rosters for the 2020 season and only one Ravens player made the first-team cut.

It isn’t quarterback Lamar Jackson or cornerback Marlon Humphrey that got the praise. Instead, long snapper Morgan Cox earned his first All-Pro selection as the rosters have expanded to include the position for the first time.

Though Cox is the only Ravens player to make the first-team All-Pro roster, he isn’t alone on the overall list. Kicker Justin Tucker made the second-team All-Pro roster, earning the second-most votes at the position behind Miami Dolphins kicker Jason Sanders. One could argue this is a disappointment for Tucker considering he has been named to the first-team All-Pro roster four times prior in 2013, 2016, 2018, and 2019. Tucker’s accuracy and leg strength have him at the top of the placekicking charts as the most accurate kicker in NFL history (with at least 100 kicks), earning him a spot on the NFL’s All-Decade Team for the 2010s.

Cox was an undrafted free agent when he joined the Ravens in 2010 but has certainly outplayed his draft status. Though this is his first appearance on the All-Pro roster, Cox has three prior Pro Bowl nods, making the all-star teams in 2015, 2016, and 2019. He’s a part of the famous “wolf pack” alongside punter Sam Koch and Tucker, creating arguably the best special teams unit in the NFL.

The lack of Ravens on the All-Pro roster is a little surprising. In addition to Tucker’s excellence, Baltimore has placed seven players on the 2020 Pro Bowl roster and have had a bunch of players be considered at the top of their respective positions. Tackle Orlando Brown Jr., cornerback Marlon Humphrey, and Tucker were the only other Ravens players to even get votes for the All-Pro roster.
