2020 NFL Draft: Eagles select Clemson safety K'Von Wallace in 4th round

The Eagles drafted Clemson safety K'Von Wallace Saturday with the first of their three fourth-round picks.

Wallace, the 127th player taken in the draft, is the third Clemson safety the Eagles have taken in the last 25 years.

C.J. Gaddis, a 5th-round pick in 2007, never played in the NFL. Brian Dawkins, a 2nd-round pick in 1996, is a Hall of Famer.

Wallace is the first safety the Eagles have drafted in the first four rounds since 2nd-round pick Jaiquawn Jarrett of Temple in 2011.

Wallace, 5-foot-11, 205 pounds, had 178 tackles, five interceptions (averaging 36 yards per return), two sacks and two fumbles in his four-year career. He was a three-year starter and played in a school-record-tying 59 games for the Tigers.

The Eagles have spent a good portion of the offseason rebuilding their secondary, cutting ties with Malcolm Jenkins and Ronald Darby, trading for Darius Slay, signing Will Parks and Nickell Robby-Coleman, re-signing Rodney McLeod and Jalen Mills and moving Mills from corner to safety.

Although McLeod and Mills are currently penciled in as the starting safeties, McLeod is 30 and signed to a two-year deal and Mills is on a one-year deal, as is Parks.

The only other safeties on the roster are Rudy Ford and Marcus Epps.

The Eagles have drafted 11 players over the years out of Clemson, but the only one who ever played a game in an Eagles uniform is Dawkins.

The Eagles also have picks 145 and 146 in the fourth round, 169 in the fifth round and 191 in the sixth round.
