Every episode of ‘The Office’ will be recreated on Slack
Now you can re-watch the iconic sitcom in a whole new way.
Slack will recreate all 201 episodes of NBC’s hit comedy, “The Office.” The company behind the popular workplace messaging app is collaborating with MSCHF, an internet collective that specializes in engineering virality.
Slack launched the same year “The Office” aired its series finale in 2013. Thus, viewers were never able to see how Pam, Jim and Dwight would have used the digital platform.
“Since ‘The Office’ aired, the nature of work and office culture has changed drastically, a lot of which is centered around the way we use technologies,” said Daniel Greenberg, head of strategy at MSCHF told The Verge. “This is a live experience by real people Mondays through Fridays, nine-to-five.”
That’s right, every weekday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, fans of the show can tune in to their favorite character’s antics on Slack. While the actors won’t be returning, improv players will embody members of the Dunder Mifflin gang. Some dialogue will be typed out, while other gags will be GIFs and memes.
The episodes will occur across multiple company channels, each dedicated to a different Dunder Mifflin department. Meanwhile, viewers can even join the #watercooloer and #smoke_break rooms to chat with other users. Although they are discouraged from conversing in other channels where they might interrupt the scenes. The series will take place every week until every episode is recreated.
