3-star Hillsborough defensive back Ken Montgomery has trimmed his massive offer list of 42 schools to six today. Alabama, Ohio State, Penn State, UCLA, Ole Miss, and Oklahoma are the final schools to make the cut.

"These are the schools that are recruiting me the hardest and the ones I like the most in order. Each school has a huge possibility of me committing to them in July," Montgomery bluntly stated.

Montgomery gave FlaVarsity a look inside his thought process as to why each school is where they are on his list and what it would take for those at the bottom to rise.

In his own words:

Alabama: "They produce NFL DBs. Coach Saban is cool and he has a lot of NFL connects. I also respect their tradition of winning and like I said, how they put so many DBs in the league. I know that when I go to Alabama it's gonna be about straight business."

Ohio State: "Coach (Greg) Schiano was recruiting me since my Freshman year and I have a great relationship with him. And just like Alabama, they always have some of the best DBs in the country and send them to the league every year."

Penn State: "I have a really good relationship with (Head) coach (James) Franklin and (DB) coach Terry Smith. I know I can make some things shake out there, and maybe start something new up there as a Florida cat. I'll be taking a trip to see them sometime next month on an unofficial visit."

UCLA: "Me and coach Meat (DB coach Demetrice Martin) are close, we've been kicking it since freshman and sophomore year. Academically they are really strong and it would be cool to have UCLA on my resume. Also, it would be cool to get away and go out there and start something different."

OLE Miss: "They've been pushing really hard since they offered. I talk a lot with (WR) coach (Jacob) Wheeler and I'm thinking about visiting them to get to know more about the program, but I don't know yet if I'm gonna go."

Oklahoma: "I talk to the coaches but I haven't really bought into the whole thing yet but I'd like to get to know them a little more. But if they step it up a little more they got a shot."

The rangy 6-foot-2 defensive back added that, "I think Penn State, UCLA, and Oklahoma need some Florida cats to come out there and show out."

Montgomery has plans in the works to visit Alabama and Penn State before the end of July.

"I'm gonna visit Alabama and Penn State, I think I may commit by the end of July but I do want to visit as many of my top six as I can before I make it official," concluded the three-star from Tampa.
