Indiana is no longer in the mix for four-star forward Cole Swider.
The Barrington (R.I.) St. Andrews standout had initially included the Hoosiers in a list of final eight schools. However, his recruitment took an unexpected turn when he made an unofficial visit to Duke this month and picked up a scholarship offer.
Duke had not made Swider's initial top eight, which included IU, Creighton, Xavier, Providence, Michigan, Syracuse, Villanova and Miami. Now, he's cut his list to just four schools, and inserted the Blue Devils into the mix.
Swider will take official trips to Syracuse (June 18-20), Duke (June 23-24), Xavier (June 26-27) and Villanova on a to be determined date. His college decision will likely follow after those trips.
"The Duke visit went really well," Swider told Rivals recently. "Meeting Coach K was really awesome.
"That was like my dream school growing up so it was cool to finally get the opportunity to receive a scholarship from them."
He was named Rhode Island Gatorade Player of the Year after he posted 26.5 points and 11.1 rebounds per game for St. Andrews as a junior, leading his squad to a 20-9 overall record. Swider also picked up NEPSAC Class AA First Team honors for his play.
