Draymond knew Heat were in trouble early vs. Lakers in Game 1 originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea For the first six minutes of Game 1 of the 2020 NBA Finals, the Miami Heat looked unstoppable. A 3-pointer by Jae Crowder with 5:38 remaining in the first quarter gave the Heat a 23-10 lead over the Los Angeles Lakers. So it should have been smooth sailing from there, right?
Dominic Bozzelli made the cut at the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship last weekend, marking the first time he's made a PGA Tour cut since January. One of the most talked-about aspects of the show was the way Jordan teased and sometimes berated teammate Scott Burrell, both for his play on the court and his behavior off the court. When Bozzelli, who hails from Rochester, N.Y., but played collegiately at Auburn, watched “The Last Dance,” he couldn't help but smile at Jordan's tough love tactics because he's seen it all a hundred times before.
Last year, you could really see it click for him, just kind of getting after it a little bit and not being so fine,'' veteran Jon Lester said. I think he felt comfortable with where he was at, physically, getting situated here in Chicago. You could really see him go out there with a peace of mind and just compete and pitch.
According to a new report, we have the potential dates and times for the rescheduling of the Week 4 game between the Tennessee Titans and Pittsburgh Steelers in the wake of the former's COVID-19 outbreak. Per Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, the NFL is planning to move the game to either Monday at 5 p.m. EDT or Tuesday at 6 or 7 p.m. EDT. Marchand also adds that the NFL's preference is for the game to take place on Monday for competitive balance reasons.
Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey can order all the pizzas he wants for himself, and his teammates too. His dad probably isn't going to be happy about it though. In a news conference after Humphrey signed a $98.75 million extension with the Ravens, making him the second-highest paid cornerback in the NFL, he said his dad will keep him from doing anything foolish with his new fortune.
Before the Jets take on the Denver Broncos on Thursday night, the team made a few roster moves. The main one is WR Jeff Smith, who comes off the IR after dealing with a shoulder injury. Head coach Adam Gase may not use him since he's just returning, but with the way wide receivers continue to get injured for the Jets, Smith could be an option.
The NFL released a statement on Thursday indicating the game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans will be postponed indefinitely due to an outbreak of positive COVID-19 tests on the Titans. The Titans facility will remain closed and the team will continue to have no in-person activities until further notice. The most likely scenario for the game now if to have the Steelers and Ravens Week 8 matchup moved to Week 7 when both teams were to have their bye and then the Steelers and Titans will move to Week 7 when Tennessee has their bye week.
Dane Dunning got the start for the all-important Game 3 on Thursday afternoon. Rick Renteria brought the quick hook out for his starting pitcher, perhaps a surprise for White Sox fans who haven't seen their team in the playoffs in a dozen years. Postseason baseball's changed a good deal since then, and starting pitchers have shorter leashes than ever.
Swoosh, swish, swat, the Lakers whisked their way to a 116-98 victory over the wide-eyed and weak-kneed Miami Heat on Wednesday in an NBA Finals Game 1 victory that felt like a clincher. This Finals is supposed to be best of seven, but it looks like it's going to be best of Lakers after they spotted the Heat a 13-point lead early and then outscored them by 45 points — that's not a misprint — before slipping gently into the final margin at the AdventHealth Arena near Orlando, Fla. This columnist picked the Lakers in four, but clearly should have picked them in three.
As Francisco Lindor played in the longest nine-inning game in history, a nearly five-hour endurance test that ended in an empty stadium on October's first morning, he considered it may have been his last game with Cleveland. Lindor and the Indians are finished in 2020, but any lingering pain from the club's eighth straight postseason loss or failure to end a World Series title drought dating to 1948, quickly shifted to Lindor's unsettled future on Thursday. The four-time All-Star shortstop is under contractual control for next season, but the Indians can't afford to pay him $300 million and it's expected they'll trade the 26-year-old this winter before he walks as a free agent.
Scott Harrington pulled off a rare feat at the Sanderson Farms Championship at the Country Club of Jackson on Thursday when he holed his second shot on the par-5 14th. Sadly, there's no video evidence to share of the moment. It's the first albatross (or is it called a double eagle?) at the Sanderson Farms since 2010 and just the second one on the PGA Tour this season (Harry Higgs, second round, ninth hole at Silverado's North Course at the Safeway Open).
Westchester, New York: Trump National Golf Club President Trump's golf club in Westchester, New York includes an 18-hole course, tennis courts, and a pool complex. This site is about 30 minutes from New York City and home to a 101-foot waterfall. The 7,291-yard, 18-hole course was designed by architect Tom Fazio.
It took the New York Yankees nearly five hours on the field, carried them from Wednesday to Thursday and September into October to complete the sweep. DJ LeMahieu's tiebreaking single in the ninth inning off closer Brad Hand sent the Yankees into the AL Division Series - and a matchup with rival Tampa Bay - after a wild 10-9 win over the Cleveland Indians early Thursday in the longest nine-inning game in major league history. It's no wonder after Aroldis Chapman got the final out well after 1 a.m. that the Yankees barely celebrated on the field.
On Monday, the Houston Texans were going to bring in former All-Pro safety Earl Thomas for a workout. In his Wednesday presser with the Houston media, coach and general manager Bill O'Brien explained why the club decided to forgo the workout with Thomas. “Earl Thomas is a hell of a player,” O'Brien said via Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

The Los Angeles Lakers physically overwhelmed the Heat in Game 1 of the NBA Finals — and it led to some Miami injuries that could dramatically impact the rest of the series. Miami Heat starters Goran Dragic and Bam Adebayo both had to leave the game with injuries, not to return. Dragic left the game in the first half not to return with what multiple reports have said is a torn plantar fascia.
At first blush, however, you might think a martini or two is necessary to get you through tonight, but much like last week I am here to make a case for watching tonight. Last week I extolled the virtues of Gardner Minshew and Laviska Shenault Jr., and they lost. So as I embark on selling you on Brett Rypien I might be dooming the Broncos to an 0-4 start, but here I go.
No football coach wants a quarterback controversy in the middle of a season, which is why it made sense to hear the San Francisco 49ers' Kyle Shanahan quickly strike down any sniff of one this week. Coming off a strong performance in a Week 3 beatdown of the New York Giants, could Nick Mullens unseat Jimmy Garoppolo (out with a high ankle sprain) as the team's full-time starter? “No, that scenario doesn't exist,” Shanahan said Wednesday.
After Jelena Ostapenko eliminated No. 2 seed Karolina Pliskova at the French Open on Thursday, the conversation quickly turned to 2017. Which made sense, of course, because that was when Ostapenko surprisingly won the championship at Roland Garros - and the last year she even won so much as one match at the clay-court tournament, let alone two, the way she has this week. Of course I want to achieve more and I want to be back in top 5, top 10,'' Ostapenko said after beating Pliskova 6-4, 6-2 with the help of a 27-9 edge in total winners.
