16-3A Baseball: Troup run rules Elysian Fields; Lovelady collected 3 hits

Apr. 11—RUSK — Troup needed just six innings (run rule) to hand Elysian Fields a 14-4 defeat in a District 16-3A tilt that was played at Rusk High School Thursday evening.

The game was originally scheduled to be played in Troup, but heavy rains in the area on Tuesday and Wednesday force the fray to be moved to the artificial playing surface at Rusk.

Troup led 4-0 after one inning of play and never looked back.

The Tigers sent six men in to score in the bottom of the sixth to extend its lead to 11-3.

Ty Lovelady churned out three hits for Troup.

Tucker Howell went 2-3 with one RBI while Carson Davenport had two hits, including a double, in four official trips to the plate.

Bryce Wallum smoked a double and drove in a run and Joshua Childress singled and picked up an RBI for the Maroon and White.

Hayden Huml had a two-base knock for Troup, who is slated to visit Waskom for a 6 p.m. game Friday night.

Earning the win on the mound for the Tigers was Colby Turner. Turner gave up four runs, all earned on 11 hits. He struck out one and issued two free passes.
