(13) Maple Heights at (4) Riverside: Preview capsule for Oct. 27 game

Oct. 26—(13) Maple Heights at (4) Riverside

What: Division II, Region 5 opener

When: 7 p.m., Oct. 27

Where: Riverside Stadium

Records: Maple Heights 5-5, Riverside 8-2

Last week: Lorain def. Maple Heights, 53-34, Chardon def. Riverside, 24-16

On deck: Winner faces the winner of (5) Nordonia and (12) Twinsburg

For the record: The Beavers crushed the Mustangs, 35-6, in Week 4. Riverside should be motivated in this game after losing two of its last three games. In the first meeting, Maple Heights actually outgained Riverside, 291-246, but bid plays by the defense gave the Beavers short fields to work with. Riverside has a dangerous offensive arsenal led by QB Mikey Maloney (850 yards rushing, 1,640 yards passing, 30 total TDs), RB Jason Mackey (768 yards rushing) and receivers Brady McKnight (43 catches, 730 yards) and Ethan Ross (35 catches, 435 yards). But that group was bottled up pretty well last week by Chardon. Maple Heights QB Kindall Brown threw for 156 yards in the last meeting, while Devin Poole ran for 79.
