1 pending free agent Chargers should target from each AFC West team

The Los Angeles Chargers are set to enter free agency with a healthy amount of salary cap space available

Even though the franchise has some in-house players that will need to get paid, there’s a great chance that general manager Tom Telesco and company will be aggressive in signing other pender free agents to bolster an already talented roster.

With that being said, we are going to list one pending free agent from each team in the NFL that could be a realistic target for L.A. First up is the AFC West.

CB Bashaud Breeland, Chiefs

The Chargers need to add more talent to the position. Whether it was a maneuvering of scheme or injuries, Casey Hayward didn’t look himself in 2020, and he’s slated to be a free agent after the upcoming season, along with Chris Harris Jr. Michael Davis is set to be a free agent in March. There isn’t much else on the roster that can be considered reliable when called upon. The 28-year-old Breeland had one of his best seasons as a pro in 2020, breaking up seven passes and picking off two. Among all outside cornerbacks who saw at least 15 playoff snaps over 2019-20, Breeland’s overall grade of 82.2 ranks third, and his 84.7 coverage grade ranks second, according to Pro Football Focus. He has 14 career interceptions with 81 passes defended.

S Will Parks, Broncos

Justin Simmons or Kareem Jackson, the star-studded safeties in Denver’s defense would be great. But I think they will both be brought back, or another team is going to hand them a hefty check. Parks is versatile, having played safety, slot and outside corner and box linebacker. Parks is a starting-caliber talent, so having him as a cheap depth piece should be very enticing for a team that’s lacking depth at the position and one who will be relying on it under Brandon Staley’s system. The defense would benefit from his energy, attitude and play-making ability at various spots in the secondary.

G Denzelle Good, Raiders

The Chargers need to prioritize the offensive line this offseason. One of the starters from this past season, Forrest Lamp is slated to be a free agent, which could create a hole at the left guard spot. Good was the unsung hero on Las Vegas' offensive line, as he stepped in at right tackle when Trent Brown got hurt (183 snaps) and left guard when Richie Incognito went down (773 snaps). The 29-year old allowed 29 total pressures and two sacks, along with paving the way for a unit that amassed 20 rushing touchdowns. He is a plug-and-play at left guard, but he offers the versatility to play on the other side and even at right tackle, if need be.
