Injury Wrap: Waiting on LeSean McCoy; Jordan Reed out

With Shady McCoy in limbo, we might need Mike Gillislee this week.
With Shady McCoy in limbo, we might need Mike Gillislee this week.

Pretty much everyone is hurt. This is going to be one of those weeks. Settle in, settlers.

• LeSean McCoy isn’t officially out for the game against Miami, but it’s trending in the wrong direction. He had a partial workout Friday and wasn’t moving especially well. We can debate the pros and cons of Mike Gillislee, but I fully expect him to be Buffalo’s feature back this week. Check back Sunday morning.

• With Doug Martin (hamstring) now week-to-week, it’s going to be the Jacquizz Rodgers show at San Francisco. Good fantasy work if you can get it.

• Tyler Eifert (back) has a chance to play Sunday, though it’s going to be a game-day decision and he probably isn’t ready for a full-time workload. Unless you’re painted into a corner at tight end, I’d use someone else.

• Jordan Reed (concussion) isn’t ready to play, so perhaps Vernon Davis will get a bump against Detroit’s leaky seam coverage. DeSean Jackson (shoulder) had a Friday practice and is hoping to play.

• Terrelle Pryor (hamstring) missed the full week of practice, though the Browns have yet to rule him out for the game at Cincinnati. Nonetheless, you have to make alternate plans here. A cast of lesser names — Rashard Higgins, Ricardo Louis, and Andrew Hawkins — are in line for expanded roles.

Latavius Murray had a week of partial workouts and is questionable for the early game at Jacksonville. Context clues point to him dressing, but check back on game day. DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard haven’t done anything special in Murray’s absence.

John Brown (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for the Sunday nighter against Arizona, so make other plans. Brown was a borderline-drop, anyway, in many leagues. Jaron Brown (knee) is also dinged up, and Carson Palmer is hoping to play through his own hamstring injury. Rest up, David Johnson.

• Arian Foster (hamstring) had a good week of practice and should play against Buffalo, though this could be the Jay Ajayi show for a second straight week. I wouldn’t risk a thing on Foster, as usual.

• With Carlos Hyde (shoulder) out for Week 7, Mike Davis is the likely starter for the Niners. Shaun Draughn, who’s done very little this year, is also an option.

• Travis Benjamin (knee) could come down to a game-day decision after missing time this week. The San Diego target I’m really excited to play is rookie TE Hunter Henry.

Stefon Diggs (groin) had a full Friday practice and should be able to play against Philadelphia.

Steve Smith (ankle) remains week-to-week; we won’t see him against the Jets. Perhaps Mike Wallace or Kamar Aiken (thigh, questionable) will do something against New York’s awful secondary. As for quarterback Joe Flacco (shoulder), he had a full practice Friday.

• Jamaal Charles is dealing with knee swelling and landed on the injury report Friday; he’s questionable. Get ready for the Spencer Ware show against New Orleans.

• Jimmy Graham is dealing with hip and knee soreness but hopes to go Sunday night against the Cardinals. Arizona’s defense has been stingy against tight ends this year, giving up a grand total of 16 catches for 132 yards, with zero touchdowns. It’s been largely aided by a favorable schedule, but this is still a seam defense we respect.

• Odell Beckham (hip) is back at practice and should play his normal role against the Rams. Remember this is an early game Sunday morning, part of the London series.

• Robert Woods (foot) isn’t expected to play against Miami, another blow to the Buffalo offense. Tyrod Taylor is less appealing than usual.

• Dwayne Allen (ankle) won’t play against Tennessee, which pushes Jack Doyle into our lives. Notable bust Phillip Dorsett (foot, hamstring) has also been ruled out; perhaps Chester Rogers is worth a look in deep leagues. I also expect the Tennessee pass rush to have a fun time getting after Andrew Luck. As for T.Y. Hilton (hip), he was able to practice Friday and figures to start on game day.

• The Patriots love a questionable designation, and that’s the tag Martellus Bennett (ankle) is carrying. He’s had limited practices, though, and should play at Pittsburgh. Same for Julian Edelman (foot), who’s been in a season-long funk.

• Theo Riddick (ankle) won’t go against Washington, which is good news for short-catch specialist Golden Tate. Eric Ebron (various) is also listed as out.

• DeAngelo Williams (knee) won’t play against the Patriots. If Le’Veon Bell needs the occasional breather, Fitzgerald Toussaint is the No. 2 option. I don’t see any reason to hold Williams in leagues where bench space is modest.

• DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) had a full practice Friday and should play at Denver on Monday night. Good luck with those cornerbacks. Will Fuller (hamstring) is also expected to play; he’s been limited in practice thus far this week.

• Progress remains slow with Dion Lewis (knee). He didn’t practice this week, and I’d be surprised if he did anything much for fantasy this year.

• The Cowboys give Dez Bryant (knee) a shot to play Week 8 against the Eagles. Dak Prescott has already been endorsed as the starter out of the bye week.

• Robbie Gould steps in as the new Giants kicker, while Josh Brown has been placed on the commissioner’s exempt list.

• Jay Cutler might be back for the Bears in Week 8, in a difficult spot at Minnesota on Halloween night. Brian Hoyer broke his left shoulder in Thursday’s loss at Green Bay, and Matt Barkley isn’t ready to be an NFL quarterback.
