Cooper high on versatility of Sparks' reserves (AP)

Although Lisa Leslie is injured and Candace Parker is working her way back after giving birth, the Los Angeles Sparks still have veterans Tina Thompson, DeLisha Milton-Jones and Betty Lennox in the starting lineup. Shavonte Zellous scored 18 points to lead the Detroit Shock to an 86-72 victory over the Sacramento Monarchs on Sunday night, giving Rick Mahorn his first win as a head coach. Detroit Shock forward Plenette Pierson is expected to be out for the rest of the season after shoulder surgery. The team said Wednesday that the 6-foot-2 forward had successful surgery to repair right shoulder instability.
