WHERE 'DEAD RINGER' COMES FROM

TouchVision 0:42 mins

COMMON PHRASE ORIGINS: The phrase 'Dead Ringer' is from horse racing in the late 1800's. Race horse owners would have two horses, a slower one, and a 'dead-on' identical one that was a lot faster. The slow one would lose a bunch of races, until the odds go high enough, then the 'dead ringer' would race and win the owner a bunch of cash.
