Tech Companies News Byte: Europe Thinks Google Can Do Better on Search Concessions

Wochit 1:09 mins

European Commission competition head Joaquin Almunia, in his continued efforts to crack down on Google?s alleged anticompetitive search practices, announced today at a news briefing that the concessions Google has offered ?are not enough to overcome our concerns.? Google has patched a security vulnerability that could have left Glass users with some major issues. Lookout Security discovered a flaw in Google Glass that allowed a malicious hacker to create a QR Code, and then after it was scanned by Glass, see all of the connections running through the search company's eyewear. The hacker could also deliver a payload over the Internet that would wreak havoc on Google Glass and possibly steal information. Microsoft has sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder calling on him to personally review a gag order that prevents the company and others from further discussing the secret national security requests for customer emails, Skype calls and documents stored on its servers.

Win. Gloat. Repeat.
