Starkville, Mississippi, population 24-thousand, a small town cafe feeds an entire football team. Not just any team. The Mississippi State Bulldogs, a top 20 program powered by some southern homestyle cooking
Larry: For the record she was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan. BTW, she like Trump's daughter are both married to jewish men. Her mother and father both received PHD's from the University of Pennsylvania. I would rather have her and her family in this country then have the ignorant people who post on stories like this who show the hate and stupidity Trump presents. Abedin has been investigated by republican congressman a number of times including not granting her a security status. Nothing was ever found. I am leaning towards Johnson but if he dropped out and Clinton was indicted, I would rather she run the country from jail in a orange suit then have a clown who happens to wear a suit.
Colin Kaepernick stood tall while sitting down, which is not an easy thing to do. In fact, what he did in benching himself for the national anthem on Friday night was the hardest thing he could possibly do. The easy thing? That would be standing silently with his teammates on the San Francisco 49ers sideline, cutting against the grain of his conscience. Nobody would've known the difference. Nobody would have reason to challenge his patriotism, to call him all kinds of nasty names, and to remind him, by the way, that he has devolved into a lousy quarterback who should be spending more time with his playbook anyway. But he planted himself among the Gatorade buckets, understanding that in an age
Shaq’s son, Shareef O’Neal, and Jason Williams’ son, Jaxon Williams, played basketball together, along with other high school ballers Nassir Little and Ronaldo Segu. Home Team Hoops was there at Shaq’s house to put together a video of the session. Shareef got in some monster dunks on Jaxon, and Jaxon pulled some moves as slick as his dad’s on Shareef. All four of the players were smiling throughout the video — four talented ballplayers in one gym is fun!
Good morning, Broncos Country! Life is good for Andy Janovich. He has yet to play a regular season game for the Denver Broncos, yet the rookie fullback is already one of the most popular players on the roster. You got the sense this would happen when John Elway drafted Janovich in the sixth round out of Nebraska. All Broncos Country had to see was that a fullback was returning to the offense. Call it nostalgia, but some of Denver’s brightest days have come with a fullback. See: Howard Griffith. Then fans started to hear and see what Janovich is all about. A young man who will do whatever is asked of him and do it to the best of his abilities. Fans started to notice how much he hungers for success.
Losing ground in the divisional race, the Orioles are looking for waiver wire trades according to a report from Buster Olney (ESPN Insider). Unfortunately for them though, the Yankees have “been aggressive in making [waiver] claims” which has limited the Orioles’ ability. With just three days remaining for the Orioles to add players to their roster who would be able to play in the postseason, the scramble is on. However, the Yankees—who are lower in the standings—have priority on waiver claims. That means that any player put on waivers—including revocable ones—must first pass through every team lower in the standings than the Orioles in order for the Orioles to be able to work out a deal. The
NBA players have always chafed at either perceived or legitimate inequalities in yearly payroll. Wall is about to enter the third year of a five-year, $80 million (then-“maximum”) contract extension he signed in 2013.
Just because Peyton Manning retired from football doesn’t mean his rivalry with Tom Brady did. The former Denver Broncos quarterback, who defeated Brady and his New England Patriots in their final head-to-head matchup in January’s AFC Championship Game en route to his second Super Bowl championship, was a part of Comedy Central’s roast of Rob Lowe that taped over the weekend. Lowe jumped the gun in 2012, tweeting that Manning was going to retire after he missed the season with neck injuries. According to TMZ Sports, Manning used that botched 2012 tweet to take an easy shot at Brady during the roast. “You tried to take the air out of my retirement announcement so fast, you can probably get a job
Ryan Newman is now outside of the Chase with two races to go before it begins (Getty Imags). The fight for the final few Chase spots looks a whole hell of a lot different after Kyle Larson’s victory Sunday at Michigan than it did entering the race. Larson, who was outside of the Chase via points standings before the race began, became the 13th Sprint Cup winner in 2016.
What can be said for the Capitals 1993-94 team calendar that hasn’t already been said about a JCPenney’s catalog from the 1990s? Rather than just go with the usual in-game action shot (or more recently snuggling up to dogs), the Caps took a hard-left when it came to the calendar and put the players in forced comfortable setting, like when you’re at a family reunion trying to care about the story of your third cousin’s Lasik surgery. While I don’t doubt the Caps went out and about to places in Baltimore and DC to spend their off-days, I do know for a fact Randy Burridge does hang out on above the right field scoreboard at Camden Yards as that was his assigned section for selling peanuts on game nights.
With a little over a month to go in the regular season, the Texas Rangers have put themselves in exceptional shape to compete for a World Series title. At 77-54, the club holds an 8.5 game lead in the American League West, and midseason additions of Jonathan Lucroy and Carlos Beltran have strengthened an already solid lineup. The benefit of bringing in a 19-year veteran like Beltran is that he can find a way to inspire his teammates even when he’s not in the lineup.
Looking comfy in Jim Bob Cooter’s offense, the Lions’ signal caller completed nearly 71 percent of his passes after Detroit’s bye week in 2015. With news that the Lions are planning to push the pace in 2016, Staff could throw the ball upwards of 640 times in 2016. While losing Calvin Johnson obviously hurts, opening the season opposite a Vontae Davis-less Colts should get the momentum going.
Phil Jackson predicted the playoffs for the Knicks in 2014-15, and he’s again drumming up postseason buzz for 2016-17. Between, he was much more cautious. The Knicks president didn’t make any bold proclamations entering last season. But, somewhat after
Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre has a great sense of humor except when someone touches the top of his head. This time, we’ve got a funny Beltre moment involving the top of his head. It also involves Pat Venditte, the famous ambidextrous “switch-pitcher” now throwing for the Seattle Mariners. Venditte took the mound in the fifth inning on Monday, and Beltre had this reaction: It’s a reminder that before Venditte made it to the majors, there was some confusion about just what batters could and couldn’t do during at-bats to switch sides like him: When Venditte pitches, funny things happen.
In case you’ve forgotten, since it came before Colin Kaepernick and Tony Romo: last Wednesday morning, news came that the New England Patriots were releasing center Bryan Stork, who started Super Bowl XLIX for the team as a rookie. Not long after that, however, former Washington tight end Chris Cooley, who is now a radio broadcaster in the area, tweeted that Stork had decided to retire.
Paul Kruger likely knew his time was coming with the Cleveland Browns when he saw the flurry of moves the team made in the offseason that directly affected his livelihood. Paul Kruger was cut by the Cleveland Browns, a decision he disagreed with (AP). Kruger, 30, was released by the Browns on Monday as the first big wave of roster cuts started.
Chelsea may be set to do some late business in the summer transfer window. According to Marca in Spain they will sign Fiorentina defender Marcos Alonso for $27 million. Alonso, 25, previously played for Bolton and Sunderland in the Premier League but the Real Madrid product moved to Serie A in 2013 and has flourished for Fiorentina. He is able to operate as a left back and in midfield and could provide Antonio Conte with another option in defense so he can switch Cesar Azpilicueta to right back and potentially Branislav Ivanovic to center back. Another player who could be on his way to Chelsea is Real Madrid’s forward is James Rodriguez. This is one we’ve heard before, many times. The Colombian
This post is part of Tampa Bay Lightning day at PHT… On the surface, the whole thing just doesn’t seem fair. In this corner we have Ben Bishop — at 6-foot-7, the tallest netminder in NHL history — coming off a banner campaign in which he cemented himself as one of the game’s elite. Those covering Bolts almost unanimously agreed Bishop was the team’s MVP during the regular season, especially over a lethargic first three months in which Tampa Bay hovered around the playoff line. Bishop’s campaign concluded with the appropriate accolades: A second-place finish in Vezina voting, second team All-NHL, and a spot on Team USA for the World Cup of Hockey. At 29, Bishop is smack in the prime of his career
One young Los Angeles Angels fan cried tears of joy after getting an autograph from superstar outfielder Mike Trout. Trout is out before the start of Sunday’s game signing autographs for some young fans. It’s tough to know exactly what the kid says to Trout, but strong lip readers at home can make out the phrase “my favorite player.” After getting his ball signed, the kid triumphantly raises his hands as he runs over and embraces his dad.
The battle of the brands has begun, and only Tiger Woods can stop it. According to Woods's longtime friend Notah Begay, a bevy of golf equipment manufacturers have flooded the 14-time major winner's Jupiter, Florida home with their products, all of them vying to fill the void left by Nike's exit from the golf equipment business.
Ty Lawson is joining the Kings. Free-agent guard Ty Lawson has agreed to a one-year contract with the Sacramento Kings, league sources told The Vertical. Lawson visited with Kings officials and coaches on Saturday in Sacramento and had planned to meet with New Orleans Pelicans officials early this week – until the Kings offered him a deal on Sunday, league sources said.
Jamal Crawford went crazy at the Seattle Pro-Am again. The 36-year-old NBA vet sent one defender flying to the floor, and he made another angry as he shook him with a fake behind-the-back crossover. Ballislife shared clips of the two slick moves. Here’s the behind-the-back fake. It appears that the guy on defense was convinced Crawford carried the ball over or did something illegal. It looked fine to me — in fact, it looked awesome. They don’t call him J. Crossover for nothing. Here’s the stop and fake that sent a defender sliding. Notice how Crawford looks back at the man on the floor, pulls up for a jumper, then gets the and-one. It’s too easy. If you still want to see more highlights, you’re
After trailing 8-1 after the seventh inning, the New York Yankees brought the game-tying run to the plate in the top of the eighth and ninth innings, but were unable to tie the game in an 8-5 loss to the Kansas City Royals on Monday at Kauffman Stadium. Read more Michael Pineda and Blake Parker combined to allow five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to turn a 3-1 game into a seven-run deficit. Didi Gregorius hit a two-run double, Starlin Castro a sac fly and Chase Headley an RBI single to draw the Yankees within 8-5 in the eighth inning to bring up pinch hitter Mark Teixeira as the tying run. Royals manager Ned Yost brought in Kelvin Herrera, who got Teixeira to ground out to end
Jason Terry has talked about reaching out to multiple teams, including contenders, during free agency before settling on the Milwaukee Bucks. When he talked about why the Bucks, he spoke of believing in what Jason Kidd was building. There may have been another reason: Minutes. From Gery Woelfel of the Racine Journal Times: Some NBA officials contend he signed with Milwaukee and rejected overtures from a handful of teams, including the reigning NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers, because of potential playing time. “He wants his minutes,’’ said an NBA executive, whose team had shown some interest in signing Terry. “He didn’t go there (Milwaukee) to sit on the bench.’’ Terry’s agent denied this, saying
Get ready for some bonus Wednesday preseason football. Instead of having all 16 games this week on Thursday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced their preseason finale against the Washington Redskins has been rescheduled for Wednesday. What about the folks who were anticipating … oh, I can’t do it anymore — nobody cares about the fourth preseason game.
The Cowboys will open the season as they ended 2015, without Tony Romo. The Juggernaut Index is our annual ranking and review of NFL teams for fantasy purposes — repeat: FANTASY PURPOSES. Tony Romo is probably the greatest oft-maligned quarterback in NFL history.
