A dozen Republicans in the Senate have said they'd rather shut down the government than provide funding for Obamacare. Meanwhile, more than 60 Republicans in the House have called on their leadership to cut off all federal support for the law in the coming fiscal year. Florida and Georgia, two states where politicians oppose U.S. President Barack Obama's healthcare law, said that insurance rates for individuals would rise sharply in 2014, almost 200 percent in some cases under the reform. The White House shot back at critics who claim Obamacare is leading to higher healthcare costs, slower job growth and rising numbers of part-time workers, saying the latest economic statistics show none of those effects.
