Ranking the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2012 Inductees
2012 WWE Hall of Fame
Although the WWE has been criticized for reinventing the industry to emphasize "entertainment" over "sports," its Hall of Fame is an honorable tribute to the best wrestlers in history. As usual, the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2012 is an eclectic mix of WWE wrestlers, old-school grapplers and a celebrity. Take a closer look at the ranking of the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2012 inductees.
The late Yokozuna was WWE champion at a time when the company was not very popular. Billed as a massive heel sumo wrestler, Yokozuna was the perfect foil for WWE faces such as Lex Luger, Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan. Unfortunately, the future Hall of Famer's health quickly deteriorated and his time atop the WWE was brief.
5. Mike Tyson
Like most old school wrestling fans, I cringe every time a celebrity gets inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. However, astute fans know how vital of a role Mike Tyson played in the early days of the Attitude Era. Because of the role he played in Wrestlemania 14, Mike Tyson will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
4. Mil Mascaras
Long before The Rock doubled as a wrestler and movie star, Mil Mascaras perfected the art of multitasking. A legend in Mexico, Mil Mascaras was ahead of his time in many ways. A pioneer of the lucha libre style, Mil Mascaras was a legend throughout the world. His entry into the WWE Hall of Fame is long overdue.
3. Ron Simmons
Although he was a star in the WWE, Ron Simmons' best days came in WCW. The football star at Florida State made a smooth transition to wrestling. In WCW, he formed a great tag team with Butch Reed known as Doom. However, Simmons earned his spot in the WWE Hall of Fame when he became the first black world heavyweight champion.
2. The Four Horsemen
Perhaps the greatest faction in wrestling history, the Four Horsemen personified class and excellence. The Four Horsemen possessed the rare ability of a hated heel faction to still command the respect of the fans. As an elite collection of only the finest wrestlers, this Hall of Fame group stayed on top of the wrestling world for many years.
When Edge was in a tag team with Christian, I would have never imagined that he would someday become a WWE Hall of Famer. Always charismatic and great on the mic, Edge made a successful transition to singles competition. With numerous WWE championships, Edge is clearly the class of the Hall of Fame Class of 2012.
Patrick Michael lives in New Orleans and has always been a big fan of pro wrestling. Patrick's favorite wrestling organization was Mid-South Wrestling back in the 1980s.Patrick's favorite wrestling angle of all-time was the NWO and his favorite wrestler was Roddy Piper.
