Brad Schick Wins Disc Golf’s Parma Winter Point Series Event 3
The Parma Winter Point Series Event #3 was held in Parma, Ohio at the Parma Disc Golf Course set in Veteran's Memorial Park on Saturday, March 3. The 2012 winter point series is sponsored by Tree Love and Hole8 Disc Golf store.
This PDGA sanctioned C-tier event had 33 disc golf players come out to compete and it was Brad Schick of Westerville, Ohio who emerged the winner of the open division with a final score of 14-under par. Schick played in and won numerous tournaments in 2011, including the Toronto Island Maple Leaf, the Hall of Chains Classic and the Ohio State Doubles Championships.
Tyler Horne of Columbus, Ohio, who captured a victory at the recent Lexington Ice Bowl, followed Schick in second place with a final score of 10-under par. He also had a long list of victories in 2011, including the Charlie Vettiner Open and the 2011 Columbus Ice Bowl.
Mike Stonestreet of Canton, Ohio finished in third place scoring 6-under par, while Denny Velardo of Medina, Ohio finished at just a stroke behind with a final score of 5-under par and Chris Barbo came in at fifth place scoring 2-under par.
Brandon Jordan, Tim Stouden and Danny Mowka rounded out the top eight, scoring 3, 6 and 13-over par respectively.
The women's open division belonged to Mel Martin of Fairview Park, Ohio, winning the division with a final score of 10-over par. She was the winner of the tournament here in January, and had many victories in 2011, including the Parma Frozen Toes Open, Hall of Chains Classic and the Ironwood Open.
The advanced division win went to Frank Lyons of Orrville, Ohio, followed closely by Tyler Frew of Northfield, Ohio, with PK Deaner at third place, Garrett Maddox in fourth and Ryan Petrunski taking fifth place in the division.
Eric Wernet of Euclid, Ohio won the advanced masters division, with local Mike Broda following in second place. The intermediate division winner was Rob Panelly while Bob Cundiff finished in second place, followed by Sir Boston and Chris Carver finishing in a tie at third place. Larry Bright, Jr. and Dan Schmidt followed in a tie for fifth place.
Finally, recreational division wins went to Isaac Meeder and Katie Stouden.
