Westminster Dog Show
When Madison Square Garden hosts the 2012 Westminster Dog Show on February 13th and 14th who better to vie for Bullmastiff Best of Breed on Valentine's Day, than the cuddly, commanding, reigning champion of 2011; "GCh Peerless I Am the Love Bug."
"Bugs" as he is affectionately known to family, friends, and fans, is coming off a storybook year. Ending 2010 as the #2 Bullmastiff with the AKC, he went on to take Best of Breed at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York City in February of 2011.
"We were considering retiring "Bugs" after his big win at the Westminster Show in 2011," said Christy Shepler, owner of the champion Bullmastiff. "But in May we thought he was looking better than ever and brought him back out. The first weekend he went to Wisconsin to compete at the Midwest Bullmastiff Specialty and won Best of Breed all three days, defeating 60 plus Bullmastiffs each day and took two Working Group 2 placements."
What a dog! And so lovable! No wonder "Bugs" owners, family, and handler Tina Harbert are all so proud!
"The following week he competed at The Southeast Bullmastiff Specialty in Tennessee where he once again took Best of Breed! The other dogs had five months to gain points on "Bugs" to be ranked, but we knew and believed he could catch them."
Accolades started piling up. "Bugs" went on to earn an Award of Merit at the Bullmastiff National Specialty in October at Fort Mitchell, Kentucky. He is a Silver Level Grand Champion and finished out the year as the #4 Bullmastiff in Breed in the All Breed ranking in just under six months of showing.
In December Peerless Bullmastiffs was featured on Animal Planet's program "Breeder of the Pack" which showcased "Bugs" achievements. He is a Canadian Champion as well as an International Champion, a Multiple Specialty winner and Multiple Group winner.
"Can/Int Ch. Am GCh Peerless I Am the Love Bug" is entered in the prestigious Crufts Show in England this March and will be flying across the waters the end of February to debut in Europe with handler Whalea Bus. Owned by Christy Shepler and her daughter Alexis O'Larry, "Bugs" is an ambassador for the breed. He is what a true Bullmastiff should represent; Beauty, Strength, Type, Kindness, Love.
