Funny Halloween Costumes Inspired by Sports Fans

Each Halloween some of the best costumes I see are those inspired by outfits worn to sporting events. If you are looking for a sports-related costume to wear this year, here are some funny ideas.

1. Holy Moses

Moses has been attending New Orleans Saints games for years. To adapt this idea for your favorite team, simply find or make a robe and turban in your team's colors. Add a long white beard and a staff and you will be set.

2. LSU Superheroes

For over ten years, this group of fans has attended LSU games in Baton Rouge dressed as Batman, Spiderman, and others. You too can be a superhero and show support for your team this Halloween. Choose a character, use your team's colors, and proudly wear your team's logo or mascot on your chest.

3. Ryder Cup Cigar Guy

In a 2010 Ryder Cup photo of Tiger Woods hitting a ball, a man could be seen in the background smoking a cigar. He quickly became an internet star as people began to add his image into other pictures. To be Cigar Guy this Halloween, grab a fake mustache and a cigar. For extra authenticity, follow your buddies around looking shocked all night.

4. Saint Vince

This Green Bay Packers-themed costume is a tribute to legendary coach Vince Lombardi. It may be difficult to change this one to fit your team, but if you can put together a hat with Lombardi's picture and find a ring that sports the Lombardi trophy, your friends who root for the Packers will be impressed.

5. Ultimate Fan

Pittsburgh Steelers fans know Bud Recktenwald as the team's Ultimate Fan. However, this costume can easily be changed by wearing your team's shirt and adding as many accessories as you can find. The possibilities, like your allegiance, are endless.

Mike Patton is a sports fan who grew up in New Orleans cheering for the New Orleans Saints, Chicago Cubs, and LSU Tigers. An original member of the legendary Saints Dive Bombers cheering crew, he wears a costume to every home game he attends. Follow him on Twitter @MikePattonGBS.
