Syracuse lands south Florida sleeper
There are always late bloomers when it comes to recruiting and if you are lucky enough to find one that will only enhance your recruiting class. Well, Syracuse found one in south Florida. His name is Brice Hawkes and he’s from University School in Ft. Lauderdale. Early today he committed to the Orangemen.
“No question that Brice flew under the radar,” University School head coach Roger Harriot said. “He’s a late bloomer that grew up over night. Syracuse got him today. They were also his first offer.”
Hawkes plays a variety of positions for University; wide receiver, tight end, linebacker and defensive end. Last season as a junior he played at 5-11. He’s now 6-3.
“He had a grandma 6-2 and his father is 6-6. Brice is now 6-3 and 205 pounds. He runs a 4.5 forty. He’s strong, tenacious and is very athletic. This kid is tough and gets it done. I have a strong relationship with (Syracuse assistant coach) Stan Drayton and they got on him first and loved him.”
