First off, tournament poker is a joke and is not real poker!!!

    cash games are real poker

yes u need skill in tournament poker, but the luck factor in tournament fields this size is about 95% or greater to even cash out win a hefty profit

tournament poker is fun and all, but it doesnt mean any of these winners are that great, there has to be a winner, thats the point of a tournament...someone is going to win, no matter how good or bad they are

i would like to see all these people who buy in, play a cash game with that $10,000 and see just how timid they are when survival isnt a factor at all

cash games are how the so called "sport" began and is really how it shoudl be played, the world series of poker is a mockery of the game but you know what, its where the money is isnt it??? so i guess its not a bad idea to play especailly when all you have to do is get really lucky, play pretty well, avoid bad beats, and play 12 hrs a day for one week, 1.2 million to $8.5 million aint a bad payday

congratulations to the young man, but the winner could be anyone over 21 and over...my point...the dumbest mf u know could win this thing and would be crowned "world champion" and that to me is a crock of @#$%.

if i won, i would say thank you for all your donations to my retirement you patheic fools who literally wasted $10,000..........

Listen crybabies, it is all over everywhere. Every news site is reporting the winner.
I think ESPN should have aired it uninterrupted on the ESPN2 or something like that.

I really love poker however, I will be the first to admit that poker is a card game...not a sport. It is not even shown live on tv! I am so frustrated that ESPN (and now Yahoo) treats poker as a sport. ESPN should be covering more real sports (for example: soccer, rugby, etc.) and should drop WSOP, WSof Darts, Spelling bees, scrabble tournaments, and hot dog eating contest (glutony at is best). But I guess that's what clever marketting can do...

and yes, luck is a big part of the game. sometimes bad luck over rides skills and vice versa. and yes, Yahoo should have used some freaking common sense and not spoiled it for those who want to watch it...bit think about why yahoo usurped ESPN...it simply makes sense for Yahoo to ride the ESPN/WSOP train to promote itself. without much work, it increased traffic by simply announcing the winner.

You couldnt wait 1 day to post this? Its like 2 months ago when ESPN starting running "come watch-Phil Ivey at the final table" that was total BS..just like this is...YAHOO seriously needs to find better writers..because MOST of you dont know anything about sports..."you should sit Rivers this week cuz hes playing a good defense" 377 yds 3 tds later..... Joe Cada lives about 10 min from my house and hes plays poker with 2 of my buddies all the time so i already knew outcome but its still BS

Phil Helmuth won his only WSOP championship 20 years ago and has not done anything notable since except for being a loud-mouthed jerk on TV all the time. This tells me that there is no a dominent player in poker, period. Every year someone else wins the main event. Loggers, amateurs (Moon, Chris Moneymaker, Philips from St. Louis) and so on have the same chances to win like the "pros" (Helmuth, Phil Ivy, Jonny Chen), which tells me that whoever gets lucky usually wins.
