ICC will not review alleged tampering by Broad

CAPE TOWN, South Africa (AP)—The International Cricket Council says it will not look into a case of alleged ball-tampering by England fast bowler Stuart Broad in the third test against South Africa.

South African officials said Tuesday they had raised concerns with match referee Roshan Mahanama over an incident where Broad apparently stood on the ball, an action that could be seen as trying to change its condition to help bowlers use reverse swing earlier than if allowing natural wear on the ball.

However, the ICC said Wednesday it had received no official complaint from South Africa before the start of play on the fourth day, which was the deadline.

The ICC said the umpires reviewed the TV footage and decided not to bring a charge against Broad.
