For the third straight year, the men's final of the U.S. Open will be played on a Monday. Driving downpours in New York forced the postponement of Sunday's match between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. It was the first major weather delay of the tournament.
The USTA had hoped to start the match late, but once it was clear that the players wouldn't be able to begin until 7 p.m. ET at the earliest, the decision to play Monday was made. It's the first time in history that the tournament has been pushed into a third week for three consecutive years.
The match will begin at 4:30 p.m. ET on Monday and will be broadcast on CBS and live on the Internet at USOpen.org.
