Andy Murray's pursuit of the world number one ranking was severely tested by Slovak left-hander Martin Klizan in his Vienna opener on Wednesday before the British star clinched a 6-3, 6-7 (5/7), 6-0 win. The 29-year-old Wimbledon and Olympic champion, who is closing in on Novak Djokovic's top ranking, took his season record to 66 wins and just nine losses. Tennis player Svetlana Kuznetsova had a strange, but sensible incident during her WTA Finals round robin match on Monday against Agnieszka Radwanska. Kuznetsova won the first set 7-5, but lost the second set 1-6, and it turned out her long hair was interfering with her play. So before the start of the third set, Kuznetsova asked the umpire for a pair of scissors and gave herself a haircut. And it totally helped — Kuznetsova won the match thanks to the haircut. According to BBC, Radwanska had no idea Kuznetsova cut her hair before the third set: "I didn't even know that," said the Pole. "Good thing she didn't cut her anything else. Oct. 26, 2016 AUBURN, Ala. – Junior Andie Dikosavljevic will compete in the prestigious USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships after earning an at-large bid, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced Wednesday. She will be joined by teammate Allie Michaud, who earned a bid by winning the USTA/ITA Southern Regional. Dikosavljevic will make her second-straight appearance in the tournament in Flushing Meadows, New York. Last season, the Australia native earned a bid by winning the 2015 Southern Regional.
