Serena Williams reaches semifinals in Doha

DOHA, Qatar (AP)—Serena Williams has clinched a spot in the semifinals of the WTA Sony Ericsson Championships after beating Elena Dementieva 6-2, 6-4 for her third straight win in the group phase.

Williams was broken to trail 2-1 in the first set but won seven straight games to take control of the match. She converted her third match point when Dementieva sent the ball into the net.

The win kept Venus Williams in the round-robing tournament. She needs to beat Svetlana Kuznetsova in Thursday’s late match to advance after losing to her sister 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (4) on Wednesday.

Serena Williams has already secured the year-end No. 1 ranking after Dinara Safina pulled out of the tournament with a back injury.

    45 What planet are you from? Dumbells are free weights they can very from low weight to higher weights. You can do bicep curls, flys, incline presses, tricep curls, and do lunges with them. It is apparent you know nothing (and the word is know not no) about working out. I know about Serena's workout because I have used that method however I use heavier weight; bench press, shoulder presses, incline bench pressing, chess pressing you little wimp. And you are gay...you just hide it. Closet case. You should get together with that fuschia and black symbol for advise about coming out. He will have you come screaming out of the closet and if you visit him, will dress you up so you can look like Serena! lol Last word bye bye.

Serena does not lift to build strength idiot she only does things to prevent injury. Serena said out her OWN mouth that her and Venus rely on their natrual strength but you have to do certain things to keep yourself from getting injured. She uses more reisistance training using her own weight, I think it is funny that you kept record of Serena's Wimbledon workout lol. Your obsessed with her.

    Well I just thought that because they both were going to go earlier this year but Venus pulled out like she should have but Serena didn't. It was just an idea. I will say though that Serena doesn't seem worried about being suspened. Could you just imagine if it was like Safina or Federer in this situation I would see the level of their game just dropping. Serena signed up for a warm up tournament for the Australian and she made it a priority to finish the year at no.1

    I have a weird idea but I want to know what you guys think except RTS. Do you guys think that they are black mailing Serena into playing Fed cup inorder to not suspend her? I just don't see what would be left to investigate 2 months later. Serena doesn't seem to be worried about the USTA. I wonder because Serena and Venus both obviously need to call it a season after Doha but Serena is going to Fed cup and Venus is going home. They usually do everything together so I wonder. Iknow Serena does not really want to play Fed Cup.
