Manchester United forward Anthony Martial is unhappy with manager Jose Mourinho after being left out of the squad for the 1-1 draw at Stoke City on 21 January, according to reports. The Daily Mail says Martial, 21, was left out of the 18-man squad that faced Stoke without explanation, further straining his already uneasy relationship with Mourinho. The paper claims Mourinho dropped the France international after he failed to impress against teenage right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool on 15 January.
Ryan Mason has undergone surgery following a scary collision with Chelsea’s Gary Cahill on Sunday. The Hull City midfielder was injured after knocking heads with Cahill during first half of the 2-0 defeat to the Blues. Nine minutes of first-half stoppage time were needed after Mason stayed down on the pitch at Stamford Bridge. It has been confirmed by the club that Mason suffered a skull fracture, while it is has also been speculated that the 25-year-old could have had bleeding on his brain. Arsene Wenger has been charged with misconduct by the English Football Association. Wenger, 66, reacted angrily to Arsenal conceding a penalty kick in second half stoppage time against Burnley on Sunday — the 10-man Gunners would go on to get a contentious spot kick off their own in the 98th minute to win 2-1 — and was sent to the stands by the officials. He then appeared to push the fourth official and afterwards admitted he “regrets everything” and he should have “shut up and gone home” after the incident.
