    Strootman has 2-match ban for Rome derby melee lifted

    Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman has had a two-match ban lifted on appeal, clearing him to play key matches against AC Milan and Juventus. Strootman had been banned for instigating a melee after scoring during Sunday's Rome derby. After the goal and an extended celebration, words appeared to be exchanged as Roma's players walked back onto the field alongside Lazio's bench.

    Jokes about Maurizio Zamparini's notoriously twitchy trigger finger abound, but the prospect of relegation for Palermo has switched the focus on the Serie A club owner's penchant for sacking coaches. Barely 15 games into the season Palermo are on their third coach after Zamparini appointed Eugenio Corini last week to replace Roberto De Zerbi, who succeeded Davide Ballardini only two weeks into the campaign. Zamparini, a 75-year-old businessman from Udine, is so notorious in Italy that Twitter pranksters quipped this week he was to blame for the downfall of Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, who resigned following a referendum vote.

    Paulo Dybala was over the moon with his return from injury in Juventus' 2-0 Champions League win over Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday. The Argentina international last featured for Juventus in the 1-0 Serie A defeat to AC Milan on October 22 following a spell on the sidelines with a thigh injury. "I could not wait to get back out there," Dybala told the club's official website.
