Derby withdraws Lewis from U.S. national team
DERBY, England (Ticker) - Derby County has withdrawn winger Eddie Lewis from the U.S. national squad for this weekend’s friendly against South Africa.
The Premier League club did not want the 33-year-old to travel to Johannesburg - but teammate Benny Feilhaber has been released.
“What with all the travelling and the nature of the game, we thought it would be best to keep (Eddie) here and keep him fresh,” coach Billy Davies said on Derby’s official website.
“Benny will go, because it will be good for him to be involved and get the minutes on the pitch.”
